Zhe Chen

Born in Beijing, China, Zhe Chen is a photo-based artist currently based between Los Angeles and China.
Identifying the physical self-destruction of her subjects as an act of spiritual cleansing, Zhe Chen has been documenting
self-mortification of her own and others since 2007, while creating a series of projects focusing on gender consciousness,
identity confusion, post-traumatic stress disorder and memory.
Zhe Chen received her BFA from Art Center College Design and is the winner of 2011 Inge Morath Award, Three Shadows
Award and International Photography Award. Her work has been exhibited and published internationally and is included in
public and private collections.

陳哲,生於北京,現居洛杉磯/中國,畢業於藝術中心設計學院 · 攝影與圖像專業。
在過去的五年間,陳哲以自戕為線索,通過影像探索着自己與他人的內心異界,創作了一系列關於性別意識、身份認同、應激障礙與記憶的作品。

其作品先後獲得瑪格南基金會授予的Inge Morath獎、IPA國際攝影獎、三影堂年度攝影師獎和連州攝影節新攝影獎。

当面对生命中的混乱、暴力、疏离与无可避免的失去时
他们在自己的身体上留下痕迹,以此确认并保存诗意的心。
「蜜蜂」(2010-2012)将于1月13日至4月13日在北京尤伦斯艺术中心展出。
